Welcome to Foundation Solar Cooking Netherlands

    
Integrated Sustainable Solar Cooking (ISSC) is  preparing food with a solar
cooker together with a hay basket, a wood-saving cooking appliance and a water pasteurisation indicator.

The CooKit is a cheap solar cooker, in which rice, pasta, lentils, vegetables, chicken, goat, and baby food can be prepared and, equally important, water can be pasteurised. In bright sunlight the food is ready within 2- 3 hours. The CooKit is made from cardboard, lined with aluminium foil. A lightweight 4 litre, flat black painted pan is placed in the CooKit, in a heat resistant plastic bag. Solar Cooking film.
The Solar Box is a more expensive version.
The CooKit is used together with:

The WAPI is used to pasteurise water in the CooKit (

On cloudy or rainy days, a wood-saving cooking appliance saves up to 70% of firewood (

CooKits and WAPIs are handmade in local workshops (

Hay baskets are made locally
The position of women is improved: local production enables them to earn money.
Locally-trained female instructors teach women to cook with ISSC.
 
Solar Cooking Foundation the Netherlands (who are we?) focuses on its projects in: Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia/Puntland, Eritrea.
SCN shares its know-how and contributes to a solar cooking network through its website as well as through 
training sessions in The Netherlands for project starters.
